My name is Kathleen Crogan-Camara and I’m running for Massachusetts State Senate. I’ve lived in Randolph for 14 years and I have 3 grown children. I ran a beauty salon for 20 years and became a nurse after my daughter was severely injured in a car accident. I’ve spent years now working within the state system to get services for my daughter who has serious disabilities — my experience is that the system is very difficult to navigate and it’s difficult to get the right services for your loved one.
Currently I am on a “Listening Tour,” where I knock on doors, introduce myself as a candidate for State Senate, and find out what voters want. So far, many feel they’ve been left out and unrepresented. So far, after knocking on 4,000 doors, this is what people are talking about:
• Elders worried about being priced out of their homes
• Freeze real estate taxes for citizens over the age of 65
• Encourage equity and diversity
• Fix crumbling roads, sidewalks, and bridges
• Increase safety in our neighborhoods
• High gas prices / inflation / economy
• Veterans and homelessness
• Mental illness awareness, including in our children
• Bullying and having to change schools
• Effects in children during pandemic (psychological/cognitive)
• Help for psychological and cognitive effects on children during pandemic
• Disabilities and equal rights for people with disabilities
• Free community college
• Supports women’s reproductive rights
